Keeping Up Your Fitness After Christmas And New Year - The Trends In Exercises In The New Year 2012

One of the biggest trends of 2011 in terms of fitness was a new craze called Zumba. Many fitness directors across the country claim that this trend of dance crazes is not going away.

Zumba classes regularly fill up and can take no more members, and the reason for this is probably because these exercises are so fun. The thing is, while Zumba is a dancing class, you don’t have to come in already a great dancer to really benefit. In fact, Zumba allows people to let go and express themselves.

Zumba has quickly risen to one of the most popular fitness classes, and all signs point to that trend continuing. Zumba doesn’t have strict choreography, which may be why it is so well-loved. We’ve been told that Zumba is very easy to get into, so that’s why it has such a good sticking rate.

The director of group fitness classes at Body Zone, Sue Jemison, is always on the lookout for new dance trends. It is her belief, however, that Zumba is not going anywhere just yet, so we don’t need to worry about replacing it in the near future.

Workouts From The Comfort Of Your Own Home

Another kind of fitness trend on the rise for 2012 is the home workout. Some people are more self-conscious and don’t like going to the gym to join classes, and there are ways you can emulate that at home. Some of the best ones require little or no equipment, such as Rushfit and the Insanity Asylum workout. P90x is often compared alongside Insanity, and they are similar training routines.

Most people can easily run DVDs at home and most people would be motivated by having a personal trainer - well this is the next best thing.

What is the Insanity workout? The creator of Insanity is called Shaun T, who comes from a dancing background himself. He is a well-known personality from TV and theatres, and has released several courses. Insanity is the latest and toughest of all.

While Insanity caters to a range of levels of experience, even someone new to exercising can adjust to it. If you’ve never done exercise before, then the best idea is to start off slowly. For those that are struggling, you can always cut down the recommended time or number of reps. It’s still a great solution for those who wish to stay at home.
