Are you desperate to lose some weight but aren’t too keen on going under the knife? Finding an alternative to liposuction is easier than you might think, although the results may not be as immediate as liposuction surgery.
The first alternative to liposuction we’re going to talk about is called Lipodissolve. This is considered to be “liposuction without surgery.” Lipodissolve consists of a series of treatments in which phosphatidylcholine is injected directly into the fatty tissue. Phosphatidylcholine is considered a very safe substance and has been used for years by doctors to treat patients with high cholesterol.
The fat absorbs the phosphatidylcholine and begins to break down from a solid to a liquid form within 15 – 30 minutes after the injection takes place. The body will naturally filter out the fat over the next few weeks using the liver and intestines. There are usually six treatments given in total, and they are spaced about 6 - 8 weeks apart.
The results are not instantaneous. In fact, many patients don’t notice a difference until around the 4th week, however it still does give results—and without surgery! Also, the price for this treatment is usually around the hundreds of dollars, not thousands, like liposuction surgery.
Another alternative you might want to look in to is called smartlipo. SmartLipo is a non-surgical procedure that involves melting the fat with a laser. The beauty of Smartlipo is that it takes about an hour and the results last around 3 years. Most people notice an instantaneous difference, but it can take a little longer if there has been a large amount of fat removed. Swelling can result, but it usually doesn’t take long for the body to adjust to the change. This procedure can be quite costly (around $2,500 per area), and the patient is required to wear a “compression garment” for about six weeks after the treatment to help the treated area tighten and shape properly.
You may also try weight loss body wraps. They are much cheaper than LipoDissolve and SmartLipo, however the results generally only yield a few inches off the area treated, so if you’re looking to lose quite a bit of weight, you might want to consider one of the previously mentioned options.
